{BOOK COVER} The Day of the Triffids

Cover for Aleph’s O Dia das Trífides (The Day of the Triffids) by John Wyndham.

This post presents the full design process behind the cover, from the initial black-and-white thumbnail sketches and type explorations to the final illustration. This time, I worked as both illustrator and designer and had the opportunity to use some great old-school fonts inspired by publications from the ’60s and ’70s.
I also explored the concept of the Triffid itself, staying close to both Wyndham’s original drawings and the descriptions from the book.
It was a particularly rewarding project, both for the chance to revisit a classic and to approach it from both a design and illustration perspective.
