This is the illustration for the second cover I’ve designed for the third installment of the Lafayette series by Mandi Castro, published by Editora Luva.
For the first time, the brothers Martim and Nina Lafayette share the same narrative, bridging eras in a single story. The artwork preserves the series’ hallmark time-travel motif, juxtaposing two pivotal moments in Brazilian history: Martim in 1824, during the granting of the first Imperial Constitution, and Nina in 1984, in the midst of the Diretas Já movement — a surge of popular protests in the waning years of the military dictatorship, demanding direct presidential elections.
A visual journey through time, history, and the enduring bonds that unite these characters across centuries.
