In this personal piece the halflings celebrate one of their seasonal feasts, but as a preparation for copious amounts of food and fun, the tradition says they must first crown the so called King-under-Leaves, the Woods Regent. A mix of pantomime and agrary ritual, the coronation must be done on the elven ruinned throne under the Sacred Willow in the heart of the Glimmerdeep woods.
The whole teather, many speculates, was inherited from the more serious and profound coronations of elven kings on the same place. Rulers of a forgotten kingdom from which only magical glimpses and a, once glorious, throne remains in marble, emerald and gold. The halflings carries the tradition forward because the legends say the elven King will return one day and reclaim from the halfling Regent his Crown an his title with much respect and gratitude for taking care of the forest.
My intention was to make a coronation scene akin to those in european art but with a fantasy twist. Hope you all like it!
