[MOVIE POSTER] Red Cap at the Full Moon p

This is the poster for the movie short "Gorro Vermelho na Lua Cheia" (Red Cap at the Full Moon) by Vitor Meloni. Being a movie inspired by 80's horror, I was approached by the director with this awesome proposal to make a illustration which could crystalize that same 80s feel he had envisioned for his work. However, this is no common 80s horror since it's story mix brazillian folklore and landscape, werewolves and some dose of social commentary.

The story revolves around a important folklore character from Brazil called "Saci" or "Saci PererĂª", a mythological figure that carries symbols from the tree main cultural matrices that created brazillian culture: indigenous, portuguese and african. So the illustration carries elements that represent these tree parts combined in Saci's figure, the indigenous straw sieve in which the main character stands (also used do catch the Saci), the catholic rosary from european origin and the string of beads (called "Guias", usually worn in afro-brazillian religious traditions). At the poster center, the girl who catches the Saci in the bottle in order to help her family stands in a hieratic and solemn pose; the use of the child figure in connection with horror themes is also a staple in movie and illustration both and I was the idea was embraced by Vitor and discussing the project. The shed and landscape are also very representative of Brazil and are directly linked to the story.

I also made the logo credits for the movie and poster, which was nice for a change, since despite being also a graphic designer, my main focus has been illustration for a long time.

It was a awesome project and I hopo you like too!
